White Sulphur Springs’ existing treatment plant had reached the end of its useful life and was no longer able to maintain a consistent quality of effluent. Following the success of the City of Dunbar wastewater plant, Ghosh Engineers proposed renovating portions of the existing treatment plant and constructing a new vertical loop reactor (VLR) basin. Ghosh assisted the City in obtaining $21M in Tax Incentive Financing (TIF) for this project which also included two (2) new clarifiers. Since construction completion, the City has consistently met their effluent requirements.
Highlights
-
2.5 MGD daily flow Vertical Loop Reactor (VLR) capable of 8.0 MGD peak flow
-
Two (2) peripheral feel rim flow clarifiers with tow-bro sludge removal. Each is 85’ in diameter with a 14’ Side Wall Depth (SWD)
-
New chlorine contact tanks and centrifuge for sludge drying
